Summer Holiday Activities For Kids & Adults

You don't have to go abroad to have fun! The UK has got lots of quirky and fun activities to offer, plenty to keep both the kids and adults amused this summer holiday. We've put together a list of kid friendly activities to keep the whole family happy.

1. Visit a Lido
Saltdean's Art Deco Lido re-opened earlier this year and is described by Historic England as one of the seven wonders of the English seaside. Jubilee Pool, Cornwall is the largest sea water lido in the country and offers beautiful views out to the sea. And of course there are plenty of charming pools to choose from in London
  
     
2. Arts Festivals 
London's Southbank Underbelly Festival is open until the end of September, bringing the best in live circus, comedy, cabaret and family entertainment to the heart of the city.  Edinburgh Fringe is also currently running until 27th August and is known for being the biggest celebration of arts and culture on the planet! 
   
3. Go camping
Whether you travel to a national park, go to your local campsite for the night or set up camp in your back garden, sleeping under the stars is great fun! Build a campfire, roast some marshmallows and teach the kids about stargazing. 
  
 
     
4. Pick your own fruit & veg
Why not take the kids to a local pick your own farm! It's great fun and a lovely way to get them involved in the kitchen.
    
5. Pop up cinema 
We love pop up cinemas! There's lots to choose from including Brighton Big Screen, Rooftop Cinema Club in London and Luna Cinema which brings classics to the screen in beautiful settings all over the country.
  
       
6. Cycling 
Explore a new city on two wheels, if you don't already have one you can always rent a bicycle! From London's Boris Bikes to going off-road through the New Forest its a great way to get some exercise. 
  
7. Amusement Parks 
Why not enjoy some old fashioned seaside fun in the arcades or on the Helter Skelter at Brighton Palace Pier, join in with a roller disco at the newly refurbished Dreamland Margate or perhaps enjoy a day out at the legendary Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
  
 
  
8. Walking Tours 
Find out the history and quirky facts about your local area with a walking tour. 
They come in all shapes and sizes, from ghost tours to comedy tours there's bound to be something of interest!
  
9. Visit the Zoo 
There's fun for everyone at the zoo! ZSL Whipsnade and ZSL London Zoo are great days out and offer lots of fun activities including becoming a zoo keeper for the day and sleepovers at the Lookout Lodge.
  
10. Go exploring! 
Visit a local National Trust site or explore along the country's beautiful coastline. Why not get a map and try to find one of Britain's secret beaches, don't forget your bucket and spade!
